To All Rustin Hockey High School and Middle School Parents, With the start of our 2011-2012 season now behind us, I wanted to reach out at to all of our parents and review what are suggested parental conduct guidelines for contacting coaches. The following guideline comes from our Rustin Athletic Department and our Athletic Director, Chris Lunardi, and suggests that it is not appropriate for parents to contact coaches immediately after games or practices. Rather, it is strongly suggested that parents contact the coach approximately 24 hours after the event and arrange a mutually acceptable time and place to have a meeting or conversation. These guidelines are normally passed onto all the Coaching Staffs and Booster Clubs of all sports for distribution to parents. The purpose is to allow a “cooling down” period should there be a disagreement. Hopefully this approach will avoid an emotional confrontation, and better create an objective dialogue for resolution. USA Hockey supports this approach in their Parental Conduct Guidelines, and Club parents (ex. Quakers) are familiar with this suggestion as well. Please feel free to contact myself at
jfburke1110@verizon.net should you have any questions or comments. The entire Rustin Hockey Board looks forward to another exciting and successful season for our program. Thanks Joe Burke President Rustin Hockey Club
